Hi Sketchers -
This Sunday 4/23 we will be sketching in Northwood Shores at 211 30th Street. It is a joint event with the Artists of palm beach County and the Plein Air Painters. Our hosts Rod and David are throwing open their doors and have invited to wander the grounds and sketch from 10-4. This one of the great old houses in West Palm and I guarantee you'll find lots of stuff to sketch. I personally found it so inspiring that I not only sketched but also did finished pieces in the studio based on the photos from the day. Here is what the place looks like. I plan to do watercolor and pencil sketches and potentially do some oil paintings in the studio based on my images from the day. What media will you work in?

It is getting to be that double edged time of year for us. We have less crowds as the snowbirds have migrated North, but that also means it's getting much hotter. So it is a good time to chat about what to bring on an extended session like this one. Our hosts have many chairs on the property and last they they were there they had water and coffee for us, but be prepared. besides your normal sketching stuff. a hat, sunglasses and water are a must this time of year. Sunscreen is a great idea. As I said there are chairs on the property, but I also like to bring a travel stool so I can set up in a spot with a great view. For the next blog entry i'm going to do a video of what's in my bag when I head out to sketch.
Sharing our world one sketch at a time!
Carl
