This past weekend at the Square in West Palm Beach

 Hi Everyone,

I had something happen this weekend that we have all done at one time or another probably...

I got to our sketching location early and unpacked my bag to set up and greet fellow sketchers when I realized I had looked at but not put my watercolor travel pans in my bag.  Instead I did a pencil sketch and then inked it with micron markers in a couple of widths.  It was nice to work in line and hatching a bit without color this week.  Here is my sketch.

I think it is good to break your routines once in a while and explore different ways of working a scene.

The group all did great work as usual.

Some of our newer sketchers were not aware of the international group or the Manifesto each group agrees to so here it is.  You can find on our social media as well.  Don't let the word manifesto scare you off.  Call it a creed if you like.

Urban Sketchers Manifesto

  1. We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
  2. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.
  3. Our drawings are a record of time and place.
  4. We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
  5. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
  6. We support each other and draw together.
  7. We share our drawings online.
  8. We show the world, one drawing at a time.

This Saturday we celebrate International Urban Sketchers week with a meetup at Ragtops Motorcars and Museum in Lake Worth.
